Patty puts her 20 years of communications experience to work leading the Goff & Howard media team, helping our clients develop public relations strategies and execute them with expertise.
Patty advises our clients on the best ways to integrate media relations into their overall communications strategies, develops proactive and reactive media relations plans, and draws on her strong relationships with reporters and editors to place clients' stories in the right media outlets at the right time. She also helps prepare clients for interviews through media training, counsels clients in crisis communications, and serves as a spokesperson if needed.
Patty helps clients integrate a mix of new and traditional media strategies into their communications plans, something she wrote about in a 2008 column published in Upsize Minnesota.
Prior to joining Goff & Howard, Patty worked as a reporter at daily newspapers covering politics, education and feature news.

While at Goff & Howard, Patty served as a spokesperson for the MinnCan project, a 304-mile pipeline project to deliver Canadian crude oil to refineries in the Twin Cities. During this project, she incorporated media into a broad-based, ongoing communications effort, communicating regularly with media in 13 counties along the pipeline route to inform the public about the project.
Patty also helped Flint Hills Resources develop a comprehensive regional strategic plan that included annual public affairs, lobbying, and philanthropy efforts. The clear and concise plan on which Patty worked was so successful that Goff & Howard was asked to facilitate the development of a similar plan for the company's national public affairs department.
In 2009, Patty joined the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance's board of directors. She helps the organization raise awareness of ovarian cancer, boost early detection, and raise money for research.
Patty has a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Saint Bonaventure University in Olean, New York. She spends much of her free time enjoying the lakes in Minneapolis with her husband John and twin boys, Patrick and Ryan.
