Fibrominn grand opening

Project description
Fibrowatt opened the nation's first poultry litter-fueled power plant – Fibrominn – in Benson, Minn.

Why they came to Goff & Howard
Fibrowatt had not previously done business in Minnesota, and the company needed a team of experts who knew the local media and political landscape to help see the project through from its planning phase to its grand opening and beyond.

How we have assisted them
After working with Fibrowatt for eight years during the development of its plant in Benson, we were well-suited to help the company plan Fibrominn's grand opening. Using our contacts with local, state and federal officials and with local and national reporters, we helped develop a strategy for a two-day celebration that recognized local partners/supporters and drew national attention to the project. We executed many aspects of the event, including inviting dignitaries, coordinating with local vendors, producing materials, and organizing the many details involved in a large-scale event.

Results
More than 650 people visited the plant over the two-day grand opening. Governor Tim Pawlenty and Congressman Collin Peterson, who were among the many public officials who attended, both commended Fibrominn for creating renewable energy for Minnesota. The grand opening celebration also received widespread television, radio and print coverage.
